Shoofly Star Quilt Class Announcement
I haven’t posted for awhile because I didn’t have any new creative projects to share about. Instead, I have been focused on completing another green and white Shoofly Star quilt. I finished it last week, but even more exciting is the announcement that I am opening registration for my first in-person quilting class!
I love to teach, and I love to sew, and bringing these two skills together brings a smile to my face and happiness to my heart. I can’t wait to share with others how to create with fabric and thread!
Because I have just completed my third Shoofly Star quilt that it made sense that this pattern would be the one to share with students. Yes, it is a bit more challenging than one with only squares, but I think that with my help a first-time quilter will be okay.
The hard part was finding a location, but Sew Class Fabrics in Harrisonburg, VA, has graciously given me permission to use their classroom for this class, and we will be meeting on Saturday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. once a month, beginning on April 30. (Full information provided in the registration details). In the first class, I will assist you with selecting the fabrics and supplies that you will need for the quilt.
Teaching others to create, rather than focusing on creating to sell, is going to be the focus of my business. I have been dreaming of this for a couple of years, and to see it actually falling into place is thrilling. I already have dreams of more class offerings, but first, I hope to see five students in my inaugural quilting class in a couple of weeks! If more than five people are interested, I will set up a wait list for the next class.
I have already started some new projects that I will be sharing with you soon! Yesterday, I started my journey of learning all of the decorative embroidery stitches that my Grandmother used on her crazy quilts. I will be sharing that process with you, and hopefully, I will be offering classes (both in-person and online) on those stitches in the future.
