A Simple Towel Solution
The other morning, I walked into the bathroom that my toddler and preschooler use most often. Yet again, the hand towel was on the floor…I sighed and resolved to take action…
A few years ago, I had attempted to come up with a solution for the same issue in the kitchen. I created a zippered towel to go over the oven door handle or dishwasher handle. I loved it! The towel was absorbent enough to make it through a meal preparation without getting saturated, and it stayed in place!
One issue that I had with this towel, though, was sourcing a zipper that was the right size, color, and durable enough to withstand frequent, heavy-duty laundering.
But back to the present. I needed a solution for the hand towels on the bathroom floor. My idea was to buy some white cotton twill tape and attach it to the corner of the towel to make a loop to fasten over the towel holder. I even made a special trip to Hobby Lobby on Saturday to buy it, but they did not have it in stock. So, I had to come up with plan B. I tried multiple ideas, but the loop that seemed to work the best was made of a scrap piece of linen fabric that I had on hand, which I cut on the bias and sewed to make a loop as you see pictured below:
The towel can be fastened one of two ways: with the loop hidden in the back and the towel folded down over the front or with the loop showing in the front.
And here is a video so that you can see how to hang the towel to appear as shown above.

Now, I need to go do this to the rest of our hand towels…
